<p>Nathan Vasher signed with Detroit earlier this week, <a href="http://www.freep.com/article/20100913/SPORTS01/100913059/1433/Cornerback-Nathan-Vasher-signs-with-Lions" target="_blank" class="liexternal">according to the Detroit Free Press</a>.</p>
<p>Vasher spent the summer in San Diego&#8217;s training camp after joining the Chargers in March, but the <a href="http://hornsgonepro.com/player-news/simms-vasher-and-ogbonnaya-cut" class="liinternal">Chargers released Vasher earlier this month</a>. Vasher spent his first six seasons in Chicago. </p>
<p>The signing of Vasher comes off the heels of an injury suffered by Lions&#8217; defensive back Aaron Berry in the opening game, which added to Detroit&#8217;s injuries woes.</p>

<div style="float: left; padding-right: 5px;" class="twitterbutton"><a href="http://twitter.com/share?url=http://hornsgonepro.com/player-news/simms-vasher-and-ogbonnaya-cut&amp;text=Simms, Vasher and Ogbonnaya Cut&amp;via=hornsgonepro&amp;related=hornsgonepro" target="_blank"><img align="left" src="http://hornsgonepro.com/wp-content/plugins//easy-twitter-button/i/buttons/en/tweetn.png" style="border: none;" alt="" /></a></div>
<p>To reach the 53-man roster, <a href="http://www.titansonline.com/news/article-1/Titans-Waive-20-Players-Roster-Now-at-53/47bdc920-a7d8-43e8-8efe-d5bbf948b52d" target="_blank" class="liexternal">Tennessee released QB Chris Simms</a>, the <a href="http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/ci_15995396?nclick_check=1" target="_blank" class="liexternal">Chargers released CB Nathan Vasher</a> and <a href="http://www.kansascity.com/2010/09/04/2200417/rams-finish-cuts-adeyanju-carpenter.html" target="_blank" class="liexternal">St. Louis released RB Chris Ogbonnaya</a> over the weekend. </p>
<p>Simms has moved around to a couple teams and been buried down depth charts since having his spleen removed in 2006.</p>
<p>After a productive six year stint with Chicago, <a href="http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post/_/id/4665474/notebook-bears-speak-highly-of-vasher" target="_blank" class="liexternal">in which his Bears&#8217; teammates spoke very highly of him</a>, the Chargers signed Vasher in March before cutting him this week.</p>
<p>Vasher will always be remembered for breaking the record for the longest return of any kind in NFL history in 2005, after running back a missed 52-yard field goal 108 yards. The record was later tied by teammate Deven Hester and broken broken in 2007 by San Deigo&#8217;s Antonio Cromartie.</p>
<p>The release of Ogbonnaya comes somewhat of a surprise. Even though he has not seen much action since entergint the league as a 7th round pick in 2009, Rams&#8217; GM Billy Devaney mentioned <a href="http://hornsgonepro.com/player-news/thomas-and-ogbonnaya-climb-up-the-depth-chart" class="liinternal">Ogbonnaya as a player to watch</a> as a potential backup to Steven Jackson during the offseason. </p>
<p>Just days after being cut by the Rams, <a href="http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D9I2MA880.html" target="_blank" class="liexternal">Ogbonnaya was quickly picked up by Houston</a>. </p>
