No Suspension for Benson or Young

July 30th, 2010 in Player News | Tags: ,

Cedric Benson and Vince Young both avoided the wrath of Roger Goodell this week, and will not be suspended for their separate off-season altercations.

Benson was charged with assault in June after allegedly hitting an employee at a local Austin bar. Benson denied any wrongdoing, and Cincinnati Bengal’s coach Marvin Lewis said Benson was “sucker punched.”

In 2008, Benson was arrested for both driving and boating while intoxicated on separate occasions.

Meanwhile, Young avoided suspension from Goodell after his involvement in a fight last month at a Dallas strip club, which was caught on camera.

Young was apparently provoked by a man flashing the “horns down” hand sign. He has since apologized to the Tennessee Titans organization, teammates, family and friends since receiving the misdemeanor assault citation.
