McCoy Signs 4-Year Deal with Browns

July 23rd, 2010 in Player News | Tags:

Third-round pick Colt McCoy signed a four-year deal with the Cleveland Browns today reportedly worth around $5 million, with $1 million guaranteed.

The deal comes one day before rookies are due to report to camp, which keeps McCoy from missing any practice. His deal is worth more than any other third-rounder who has signed up until this point.

Almost all players taken in the third round and beyond have closed deals, but only a few in the first two rounds have signed. So far, Cowboys’ rookie Dez Bryant is the only first-rounder to have signed and received a five-year, $11.8 million deal today.

Jordan Shipley, taken one spot before McCoy in the draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, is one of the few third-rounders yet to sign.

McCoy now officially enters a QB battle with Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace but isn’t expected to move up the ranks any time soon, according to coaches.
