Before Thursday’s game, McCoy had completed just 15 passes for 101 yards with two interceptions and a 57.7 QB rating in his preseason campaign.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer suggested in late August that McCoy’s roster spot was not completely safe, and he risked being cut before the season even started.

The news outlet backtracked on the statement just days later, saying McCoy was expected to make the team, according to their league sources.

With the risk of being cut averted, the question turns to McCoy’s spot on the depth chart and the chances of him seeing the field this season.

McCoy will likely finish the preseason third on the Browns’ depth chart, behind Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.

Commissioner Roger Goodell likely took into account the fact that Rogers recently assisted police in stopping a drunk driver near the Browns’ training grounds. Police praised Rogers for his action.

Charges were dismissed soon after the incident, upon Rogers’ completion of a volunteer and gun class program. Rogers initially faced a felony charge and up to 18 months in prison before charges were dropped.

Rogers, who has not practiced this summer since injuring his leg last season, is appealing the NFL’s decision.

Griffins status remains unclear, with different Vikings coaches giving conflicting updates. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier said on Monday that he would miss the opener, but head coach Brad Childress has not ruled him out, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune.

Griffin began off-season camp on the PUP list but can be activated at any time. Griffin started in all the Vikings’ games last season.

Thomas plans to spend a large chunk of the money on a new house for his parents, whose previous home was destroyed by Hurricane Rita in 2005.

Meanwhile, St. Louis Rams’ GM Billy Devaney mentioned Chris Ogbonnaya as the player to watch when discussing Steven Jackson’s backup running back with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Bengals are likely to take six receivers among a group that includes Chad Ochocinco, Antonio Bryant, Andre Caldwell, Matt Jones, Maurice Purify, Freddie Brown and Owens.

Quan Cosby is also competing for a roster spot, but the addition of Owens to the squad greatly reduces the likelihood of this happening.

The question of who makes the Bengals final roster at the receiver position remains one of the most intriguing storyline this off-season.
